The HAAN HandiPro Portable Steamer Makes Cleaning the Grill a Breeze

Grill-SummerReady

With July comes the sun and summer break – lazy days and long weekends with your family and friends. There’s no better time to dig out the grill and make the most of the warmer weather with a BBQ party in your yard.

Even if you cleaned your BBQ at the end of last summer, after a long winter stored in the shed or garage, your grill isn’t necessarily going to be at its best and will be in need of a good clean. Cleaning using chemical cleaning products is messy and unpleasant for both you and the environment. In addition harsh and abrasive cleaning products can damage your grill. Fortunately with the aid of a HAAN HandiPro Portable Steamer, cleaning it need not be a daunting task! Follow our 5 simple steps, and your grill will be grime-free, sparkling and ready to light in a flash.

Various-Grills

* Before you roll up your sleeves and make a start be careful to check and follow the manufacturers’ instructions as every barbecue is different.

1) Firstly, with the grill in a safe and stable location, get your barbecue to full heat. If you have a gas barbecue, that just means turning the heat on full. For a charcoal barbecue, arrange and light fresh coals and wait for them to reach a red-hot temperature. Put the lid on, and leave for approximately half an hour. This bakes off old grime, dirt and dust making cleaning the grill parts easier.

2) Wait for the grill to completely cool down, and then ready it for cleaning. If you have a gas grill, ensure the gas is fully turned off.  If you have a charcoal BBQ, remove and dispose of all the briquettes or lava rocks so that the interior is completely empty.

3) Start with the bars. Remove them and thoroughly clean both sides of the bars using the HAAN HandiPro steamer and steel brush attachment. Make sure to angle the brush into awkward corners to catch all rogue grime. Rinse with clean water and dry immediately using a clean towel. Then rub on a light cover of vegetable oil to prevent rusting.

4) Most barbecues will have drip trays for collecting grease and ash. Remove the trays and scrape off and dispose of any dried on grease. If the grease is liquid do not pour it down the sink, instead pour into a container and throw in the trash. Again use your HAAN HandiPro to steam the trays to loosen dried on grime and the steel brush attachment to scrub if required. Rinse with clean water and dry using a clean towel as before.

5) Lastly clean the interior and exterior of the grill. It’s surprising how things can splatter and you may not notice, particularly if the grill is black! Pass your HAAN HandiPro over the surface and use the steel brush attachment to scrub if required. If an area of your grill seems particularly grimy, hold the steam cleaner over it for a few additional seconds to loosen before running the steam cleaner over it again. Rinse with clean water and leave to dry.

Once all of the parts are fully dry re-assemble your grill and set in a safe location ready for use.

** If you have a gas barbecue with food caught in the burners, check your manufacturer’s instructions to find out the best way to extract it.

I find my Haan HS20R useless. I followed the directions exactly and the thing will not even loosen melted cheese on my stove top. Sanitize….maybe, but clean….not at all. I hope Amazon lets me return it.

Thanks for reaching out to us Chris. That doesn’t sound right; HAAN steamers reach temperatures in excess of 212° which will certainly shift surface grime as well as sanitizing. Please contact our customer care center at 877-422-6347 – they will be able to run through trouble shooting with you on the phone and if your machine is faulty and still under warranty will be able to arrange a replacement.
